Seeing Yourself as MORE food & body personal growth pursue your passion Sep 27, 2021

I have been thinking lately about how I want this Blog to make you feel when you are stepping into your life on a regular basis.

The thought that comes to mind that's most compelling is this: I want you to see yourself and your life as MORE than you ever thought of before.

I want you to see yourself as MORE than society thinks you can be. As MORE than what your friends think you can be, and EVEN MORE than your family is aware you are capable of being. Let me explain.

What to Do When the PRICE of Your Future Dreams is TOO HIGH pursue your passion Aug 16, 2021

I am living PROOF of a person who had EXPENSIVE dreams, and I found a way to pay for them ANYWAY. Becoming a therapist ain't cheap! I graduated with nearly $90k in debt due to student loans. I knew I couldn't be a therapist without a degree, so getting that degree was a NO BRAINER.

That said, I was still pretty nervous about repaying all that debt. On top of basic nerves about pulling out student loans, I graduated in 2008, right when the stock market crashed and the Great Recession...

Making Difficult Decisions with the Sound of SILENCE pursue your passion Aug 02, 2021

Some of the most difficult decisions that I have had to make plagued me for YEARS.  I remained lost and stuck in the space of “not knowing” for SO LONG on some of the tougher choices in my life.

 Know WHY?

It has long been my understanding that high schools often do a great job in the United States of being a...

Overcoming FEAR So That You Can FINALLY Pursue Your Passion pursue your passion Jun 07, 2021

"Feel the fear and do it anyway" has long been an understanding of people who achieve great success.

Feeling fear, intense fear, and doing things in spite of that fear has been the reason for getting some of the best things in my life, and I want it to be for you too.

When I was applying to graduate school, I was beyond terrified that I wouldn’t get in.  My husband Nick just told me, “Shelby, if you don’t get in, you are just going to apply to another...

Is It Selfish to Follow Your Dreams? pursue your passion May 24, 2021

Have you ever felt selfish for pursuing your dreams?  Like you are leaving people behind that need you and love you?

I was talking with someone the other day about exactly this subject.  She asked me if she was being selfish for leaving her current place of employment, as they were already “short-handed” as it is.  She felt as if she was going to be leaving them hanging if she moved on to pursue her own goals and dreams.  She felt guilty for considering...
