Decrease Stress with GRATITUDE for STRESS personal growth Nov 22, 2021

I know what you might be thinking. What?! How can anyone be grateful for stress?! Well, I was thinking the same thing. What good can possibly come from stress and even extreme stress

Here is what came to me.

The Law of Polarity and STRESS

Have you ever heard of the Law of Polarity? In case you haven’t, the Law of Polarity is basically the law of opposites. Everything has two poles. Think love vs. hate, good vs. evil, north vs. south, dark vs. light, death vs. life....

Pretty Privilege food & body personal growth Nov 08, 2021

Pretty privilege is when a person is treated better simply because the world perceives them to be....well.....pretty.

You can be treated differently JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE FIND YOU ATTRACTIVE.

If you have ever gotten out of a speeding ticket for batting your pretty eyelashes, had a door held open for you, felt like you got special treatment from a teacher or boss, had someone buy a drink for you, or had people be extra kind to you on a day you were lookin' good---my friend, you just may...

Ongoing Grace to the End of Covid-19 personal growth Oct 25, 2021

I recently just realized that I am not Wonder Woman—AGAIN.

Do you know this pattern? The pattern of adding too much to your plate, and then realizing that you need to pull back?

That has never been more true than throughout COVID-19 for me.

I have a 2 and an 11-year-old. For the first 15 months of the pandemic, my little one was home 24/7. My husband and I just shuffled him back and forth taking turns on who worked, along with a few hours of babysitting most weeks. Weekends...

The NECESSITY of Scheduling FUN!!!!! personal growth Oct 11, 2021

Remember when you were a little kid and someone scheduled time for you to have a friend over, time to go to a birthday party, to be signed up for sports, or dance class, or some other activity you liked? Someone was constantly looking out for you to be having FUN. I am sure these things made you HAPPY!

Why don’t we see this as a PRIORITY in adulthood? Adults tend to constantly be so busy. Busy with work, with kids, taking care of the house.....you know what I am talking about...

Seeing Yourself as MORE food & body personal growth pursue your passion Sep 27, 2021

I have been thinking lately about how I want this Blog to make you feel when you are stepping into your life on a regular basis.

The thought that comes to mind that's most compelling is this: I want you to see yourself and your life as MORE than you ever thought of before.

I want you to see yourself as MORE than society thinks you can be. As MORE than what your friends think you can be, and EVEN MORE than your family is aware you are capable of being. Let me explain.

I have...

Take Your Time Back personal growth Sep 13, 2021

So, I’ve gottah be honest with you. This week I have been feeling really..... fatigued. Do you ever get ‘people fatigued’ ? Like you just are craving some alone time, and quiet time? I am a pretty big introvert, and I need A LOT of those things. Solitude and Quiet.

Multiple things have come up in the past month. Some I planned, and some that were completely unavoidable. But all of them left me with very little alone time. Bottom line, it just zapped my energy.

Emotional Eating Recovery and Discovery of Dieting OCD (A Therapist Story) food & body Aug 30, 2021

I have LABORED over putting this blog post out there for weeks. Putting my own story out there of how I have recovered from an eating disorder feels SO VULNERABLE and SCARY to me. I feel like I am exposing myself to the world, like I might as well be naked, on stage, before a crowd.

That said, I have had an EXTREME PULL in my gut for SO LONG to help people on this issue of healing from disordered eating.  I consider healing from an eating disorder to be one of my greatest...

What to Do When the PRICE of Your Future Dreams is TOO HIGH pursue your passion Aug 16, 2021

I am living PROOF of a person who had EXPENSIVE dreams, and I found a way to pay for them ANYWAY. Becoming a therapist ain't cheap! I graduated with nearly $90k in debt due to student loans. I knew I couldn't be a therapist without a degree, so getting that degree was a NO BRAINER.

That said, I was still pretty nervous about repaying all that debt. On top of basic nerves about pulling out student loans, I graduated in 2008, right when the stock market crashed and the Great Recession...

Making Difficult Decisions with the Sound of SILENCE pursue your passion Aug 02, 2021

Some of the most difficult decisions that I have had to make plagued me for YEARS.  I remained lost and stuck in the space of “not knowing” for SO LONG on some of the tougher choices in my life.

I had my first son Max when I was 28 and before he came along I was SO abundantly clear that he was exactly what was supposed to come next in my life.  I knew without a doubt that I was ready to meet him, that I wanted to be a Mom, and I was so excited for him to come into...

Is Sex Really an Expectation When Dating? relationships Jul 19, 2021

OOOOh my……do I ever get this one A LOT in session.  The young ladies I speak to have definitely made it clear to me that they all too often DO feel like sex is EXPECTED when they are dating a guy.  If you are like so many of the girls out there that I talk to, you may have had this experience too.

Now, I am allll about sexual empowerment.  I think girls and guys should feel liberated sexually to do what they feel comfortable with and when they feel...

Anxious and Uncertain About How to Choose a Career or How to Find Your Passion? pursue your passion Jul 05, 2021

This is a topic that gets brought up A LOT by the high school juniors and seniors, college students, and people that are looking to make a career switch that I talk to in my practice.  They often feel sad, frustrated, ashamed, confused, and overwhelmed with this decision of choosing a career or finding their passion, and I bet if you are reading this, you do too!

 Know WHY?

It has long been my understanding that high schools often do a great job in the United States of being a...

How to Stop Binge Eating for Good food & body Jun 21, 2021

I have a long history with disordered eating, and it has taken me a long time to develop a good relationship with food and my body.  That said, I have a particular soft spot in my heart for anyone struggling with binge eating or any disordered relationship with food and body.

To understand binge eating and how to stop it, you first really need to understand where it comes from.  There are two major contributors to binge eating.  The first one may surprise you as it is actually...
